I installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake and I must agree with James Gosling, the out-of-the-box install experience was the best I've ever had.
To install, ubuntu boots in the live cd mode and you get a fully functional desktop (even sound and networking). I double-clicked on install, answered a few questions, and while the install was completing I was surfing the web with Firefox. Pretty darn slick.
